Our Story
CRE-ARTE Foundation was established by three passionate Cape Verdean women dedicated to combating child poverty and exploitation across the islands of Cape Verde. Residing in the UK, they were deeply moved by the troubling realities faced by children in their homeland, particularly in Boa Vista Sal and São Vicente. The stark contrast between the beauty of these islands and the harsh circumstances many children endure, such as living in slums and facing sexual exploitation, compelled them to take action.
Recognizing that poverty knows no boundaries, these resilient women decided to unite their strengths and experiences to create an organization that addresses these critical issues. Each of them hails from a different island, bringing unique perspectives and insights into the challenges children face throughout Cape Verde. Their shared commitment to fostering a brighter future for the youth of their islands drives the Crearte Foundation’s mission.
Through our initiatives, we strive to provide equitable opportunities for children from diverse backgrounds, promoting social inclusion, cultural development, and environmental awareness. Our programs focus on creative and educational activities that inspire children’s creativity and critical thinking while fostering a sense of community. By engaging in non-formal education and dynamic workshops, we aim to empower children, instilling in them the confidence and skills needed to break the cycle of poverty.
We believe that every child deserves a fair chance to thrive, regardless of their background. Through our collaborative efforts, we aspire to create a sustainable, inclusive environment where every child can flourish and realize their full potential. Together, we can build a brighter future for the children of Cape Verde, one that celebrates their uniqueness and uplifts their voices.
